Intro to Photojournalism

Photography has been a hobby of mine for years, so I was extremely excited to be able to take some photography classes while at UGA. I took intro as well as Documentary Photojournalism (JOUR 5370). I already had a basic grasp of how to use a camera and set up a nice picture, but I learned so much about framing, color, lighting, and the mechanics of my camera in both of these courses.

In the nav bar, you can find examples of different types of photography I have done both inside and outside of class. Below are also a few examples specifically from this course.

A vanilla and blueberry gelati topped with strawberry drizzle sits on a bench in front of the Suwanee, Ga location. Rita’s is a Pennsylvania based Italian ice and custard chain.
Dana Bubka poses for a photo in Athens, Georgia on Sept. 15, 2020. She is a senior avian biology major at the University of Georgia.
Lily Rae and Jonathon Scott took a moment to admire the rolling waves on Tybee Pier on Tybee Island, Georgia. The couple felt the island offered more covid-safe activities, which is why they chose this specific location for their vacation. “I definitely have done more outdoor activities since the pandemic has started,” Jonathon said.
